Health secretary, Andrew Lansley, fails to calm NHS pensions fears despite raising threshold for contributions freeze.

Health secretary, Andrew Lansley, has failed to defuse the row over NHS pensions, despite raising the threshold for freezing contributions to cover 530,000 staff from April.

Under plans announced by the Department of Health (DoH), the threshold has risen from those earning £15,000 a year to £26,557, covering almost half of those paying into the NHS pension scheme.
