The disgraced former leader of Essex CC, Lord Hanningfield, (pictured) has called for senior officials to be suspended from the council while their motives for reporting him to the police are investigated.

His call for action followed the City of London's decision on 13 November to drop its investigation into Lord Hanningfield's council expenses without charging him.
