Council leaders have welcomed the Government’s announcement that it is increasing the capitalisation cap to £300m.

Council leaders have welcomed the Government's announcement that it is increasing the capitalisation cap to £300m.

The DCLG revealed last week it was increasing the cap to £200m from April onwards. Councils now have until 12 May to apply for DCLG to use capitalisation, which allows local authorities to borrow or use capital receipts – from asset sales, for example – for revenue purposes.
