Michael Burton, whose home is near HS2, wonders whether the government's response to the consultation will be enough to allay residents' concerns.
I have followed the saga of High Speed Rail with more than professional interest since I live about a mile from the proposed route in the west London suburbs. I went to the consultation roadshow organised by the Department of Transport last summer. I dutifully filled out the online consultation form, being one of some 50,000 people who responded. My council is one of the group of local authorities campaigning against it and the streets are festooned with 'No to HS2' posters.
