Don't leave staff in the slow lane for pay rises

Heather Jameson says not addressing senior pay alongside that of frontline staff is a mistake. 'It risks driving the sector’s experience and talent to new jobs as they seek long-overdue reward – ultimately costing councils more in the long run.'

Recent weeks have been beset by striking public workers. Nurses, ambulance staff, teachers, rail workers – a plethora of professions have taken to the picket lines in a bid to push up salaries during the cost of living crisis. 

And who can blame them? There are very few people fortunate enough to not feel the current economic pinch.
