Essex CC's Philip Thomson has stepped down as president of the council legal heads' association pending the outcome of an employment tribunal appeal.

Mr Thomson, who is Essex's county solicitor, said he was standing aside as the figurehead of Lawyers in Local Government (LLG) until a decision is reached in the appeal case.
