Leicestershire CC's leader has asked levelling up secretary Simon Clarke to ‘overrule' the mayor of Leicester and push for an East Midlands-wide devolution deal.

Conservative council leader Nicholas Rushton told The MJ he had asked Mr Clarke to consider extending the £1.14bn deal the Government signed in principle last month with Derbyshire, Derby, Nottinghamshire and Nottingham.
