Leisure and wellbeing services face a serious and immediate threat

The National Leisure Recovery Fund’s distribution of £100m was welcome, but must go further, argues Cllr Dan Humphreys.

District councils are rightly proud of the outstanding work of their local leisure and wellbeing services – they are a critical cog supporting our partners across health and social care.

They should be integral to the development of Integrated Care Systems: no other service is so accessible, and community-focused in its ability to tackle health inequalities and support the mission to level up across the country.
