One in four local enterprise partnerships admit they are not accountable to their local electorate, newly-published research by the National Audit Office (NAO) has revealed.
The finding – published last week in a NAO census carried out as part of a value-for-money report – comes after the Government's decision to give more than £7.3bn of growth deal funding to LEPs – a figure topped up by a further £1.8bn in the Autumn Statement last month.
