Lessons we have learned from last week's elections

There are a few lessons from this year’s local elections, says Heather Jameson: 'There is no room for complacency in elections; sort out a plan for housing; work harder to connect with the electorate. Oh, and hope it doesn’t rain.'

What can we learn from last week's local elections? The short, and rather flippant, answer is: very little.

Looking at the election results, it seems there was a hotch-potch of political circumstances, which differed greatly from council to council – sometimes even ward to ward – with a few common threads cutting through nationally.
