Lessons learned from two years of the State of Transformation

Benjamin Taylor reviews the landscape of local government transformation over two years of case studies, conferences and academies. The picture that emerges is both a depressing and inspiring one.

Two years of our State of Transformation process have shown us how deep we are in crisis. But the word ‘crisis', from the Greek, means ‘to separate' – a decision point.

And though this points to the risks of schisms, polarisation, and extremism, what we have also seen is a huge amount of innovation and deep commitment to real change – whether it goes by the over-loaded name of ‘transformation' or not.
