Almost 500,000 homes have been granted planning permission by councils but are yet to be built, research has revealed.

Almost half a million homes have been granted planning permission by councils but are yet to be built, research has revealed.

Council leaders today called for stronger powers to force developers to build homes more quickly, after figures revealed developers were taking on average one year longer to complete work on site after building work was green lit than in 2007/8.
