LGA calls for cap on care costs for elderly

The Government must introduce urgent measures to ensure care costs are capped and elderly people are not be forced to sell their homes to fund support, the Local Government Association (LGA) has warned.

Council bosses estimate that 20,000 pensioners a year sell their homes to pay for care costs and have called on the Government to introduce a Care and Support Bill by summer 2013 to help cap soaring bills for individuals.
