LGA calls for more cash from fracking

Prime Minister David Cameron has pledged to give councils 100% of the business rates from controversial fracking sites in a bid to encourage planning approvals - but the Local Government Association has called for more.

Prime Minister David Cameron has pledged to give councils 100% of the business rates from controversial fracking sites in a bid to encourage planning approvals - but the Local Government Association has called for more. 

The cash boost - up from the current 50% - will mean an extra £1.7m for cash strapped councils. However, environmental charity Greenpeace has accused the government of trying to 'bribe councils'.
