LGA calls for control of 'chuggers'

Charity street fundraisers have been accused of aggressive behaviour towards shoppers in a study by local authorities.

Charity street fundraisers – colloquially known 'chuggers' - have been accused of aggressive and intimidating behaviour towards shoppers in a study by local authorities.

The Local Government Association's (LGA) report, published on 24 June, found that almost three quarters of councils believe 'chuggers' pose a problem on the high street, with one in seven calling for a national ban as the most effective way of tackling the issue.
