LGA calls for £1bn 'Neet' fund

Soaring youth unemployment rates could be tackled by pooling £1bn of Government funding for training schemes and giving councils powers to run tailored skills programmes, the Local Government Association (LGA) has reported.

In its Hidden Talents study published today, the LGA suggests at least eight national bodies are responsible for funding 33 schemes for young people aged 13 to 24 - across 13 separate age boundaries.
