Council chiefs have urged chancellor George Osborne to fully fund local authorities for new burdens imposed by the Care Act in the final Budget of the current Parliament next month.

In its pre-Budget submission, sent ahead of the 18 March Budget, the Local Government Association (LGA) called on the Government to give social care funding the same ring-fence protections as health spending.
