Town hall chiefs have claimed that more than half of the average council tax bill will go toward social care costs by the end of the next Parliament.

Analysis by the Local Government Association has predicted for every £1 council tax collected by local authorities in 2019/20, 60p will be spent on caring for the elderly, vulnerable adults and children.
