LGA chair Sparks recovering after Commons collapse

The chair of the Local Government Association, Cllr David Sparks, is to recover at home after collapsing during an evidence session before MPs today.

The chair of the Local Government Association, Cllr David Sparks, is to recover at home after collapsing during an evidence session before MPs today.

Cllr Sparks, leader of Dudley MBC, was giving evidence to the Political and Constitutional Reform Committee on the impact of the Scottish independence referendum to UK wide calls for devolution when he slumped into his chair while responding to questions.

Mark Rogers, Chief Executive, Birmingham City Council and leader of Essex CC Cllr David Finch were presenting evidence with Cllr Sparks at the time of the incident.
