Councils are 'essential' to successful investment in transport infrastructure, the LGA claimed in a briefing released this week.

Councils are 'essential' to successful investment in transport infrastructure, the Local Government Association (LGA) claimed in a briefing released this week outlining future financing and management options for the UK road network.

The paper calls on the Department for Transport (DfT) to work in partnership with councils to create a 'route based approach to transport problems'.
