Council bosses have accused the Government of 'burying its head in the sand' by failing to acknowledge under-funding in adult care system.

The war of words was sparked yesterday when care minister Paul Burstow, in giving evidence to the Commons health select committee accused some authorities of failing to prioritise care of the elderly.
