LGA: New precept will not be enough

The Local Government Association (LGA) has warned the Government’s new social care precept will not be enough to plug funding gaps.

The Local Government Association (LGA) has warned the Government's new social care precept will not be enough to plug funding gaps.

New figures released by the LGA showed that if every local authority with social care responsibilities implemented the additional 2% council tax charge, which was unveiled by chancellor George Osborne last week, it would raise up to £1.7bn by 2019/2020.
