LGA responds to critics with new-style governance pilot

The Local Government Association (LGA) has agreed to pilot a new style of governance, with portfolio holders replacing the current system of boards, following criticisms in its peer review.

The Local Government Association (LGA) has agreed to pilot a new style of governance, with portfolio holders replacing the current system of boards, following criticisms in its peer review.

From 1 September, two boards will shift to the new structures – the former community wellbeing board and resources board – for a period of six months, while the remaining boards will continue as before.
