LGA: Schools must protect parents from uniform costs

Free schools and those converting to academy status should be working to reduce uniform costs, the Local Government Association (LGA) has said.

The representative body has warned that with around 50 new free schools opening in September and a further 102 set for 2013 and beyond, education facilities have a responsibility to avoid forcing parents to pay for new school uniform during re-branding processes.
