Council chiefs have hit out at the Audit Commission’s latest value for money report on centrally managed services.

Council chiefs have hit out at the Audit Commission's latest value for money report on centrally managed services, dismissing its findings as ‘simplistic' and ‘misleading'.

The comments follow publication today by the soon to be abolished spending watchdog of a study which suggests councils are inconsistent in how they record centrally managed expenditure.
