LGG calls for health services 'devolution'

The Local Government Group (LGG) has called on the Government to give councils a key role in health services – and not just rely on GPs – in its response to consultation on the healthcare White Paper.

The LGG supports plans to devolve public health to councils. It calls for town halls to play a key role in commission services – particularly in areas such as mental health, long-term conditions, drug and alcohol dependency and older people's services.
