The Local Government Ombudsman (LGO) has called for a new public services ombudsman to be given powers to conduct investigations on its own initiative.

The Local Government Ombudsman (LGO) has called for a new public services ombudsman to be given powers to conduct investigations on its own initiative.

A response to a Cabinet Office consultation by the LGO said own initiative powers would allow a new ombudsman to ‘address the injustices of the most vulnerable in society'.
