Pooling of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) has formally begun ahead of the April 2018 deadline with Whitehall approving plans for two new funding structures.

The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) has sent letters to two LGPS pools – the Welsh councils and Midlands-based funds – informing them new governance and investment structures have been approved, allowing plans to be formalised with providers and senior roles to be appointed.
