The Lib Dems have announced they will drastically reduce the powers of central government ministers to interfere in democratically-elected local government in their manifesto released today. 

The NLGN think-tank welcomed the party's commitment to prioritise devolved financial and local autonomy, as well as its recognition of the extra taxes that are needed to tackle the social care crisis.
