Liverpool care workers plan strike

Council care workers are preparing to strike over a redundancy scheme in Liverpool.

The city council is hoping to shed up to 150 home care worker jobs from its staff of 600 as part of a modernisation of the service.

Angry workers met with union representatives from Unison and GMB on Monday to discuss their grievances, in particular, the severance scheme currently on the table.
