Liverpool's elected mayor has accused the Tories of ‘kicking the shit' out of local government and the Lib Dems of holding their coat.

Labour's Joe Anderson warned that further cuts to local government budgets announced in the finance settlement last month would ‘cripple' the sector without new powers to raise funds.
