Liverpool's powerful new mayor, Joe Anderson, was among the local government recipients in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

The head of Liverpool City Council, a former leader under the authority's former councillor-led model, was made an OBE for services to local government, and said he was ‘surprised and humbled' to receive the honour.
