Liverpool City Council mayor, Joe Anderson, has criticised a decision to award a local £1bn energy-from-waste (EfW) contract to a firm from Teesside.
The directly-elected mayor said a 'massive opportunity' for major infrastructure investment had been ‘snatched' from the wider city-region after the Merseyside Waste and Recycling Authority (MWRA) announced it would award preferred bidder status to SITA UK.
