Liverpool looks set to go straight to elections for a directly-elected mayor in May, as part of a new 'city deal' from the Government.

Liverpool looks set to go straight to elections for a directly-elected mayor in May, as part of a new 'city deal' from the Government.

Liverpool City Council leader, Cllr Joe Anderson, said the local authority had been in talks with ministers since September for additional powers and resources.
