Living the dream?

Migration is becoming a local issue more than ever, and as David Walker says, councils need more control of their house to address the situation

‘We are', the Slovenian prime minister said the other day, ‘too small to control our borders'.

A country is too small a unit to cope. Confronting seemingly unstoppable flows of refugees criss-crossing the Balkans, he appealed to the European Union to send police units to help regulate the massive numbers determined to move into, then out of the national territory.
