This year's Local Government Challenge shortlist has been announced by the Local Government Association.

The challenge – local government's answer to BBC TV's The Apprentice – will see the 10 shortlisted contestants battling it out in a series of challenges across local government before a final winner is chosen at the LGA conference in July. The shortlist is:
