Amerdeep Somal has been named as the preferred candidate to become Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman.

Subject to review by the Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Select Committee, Ms Somal will take over the permanent position in January from the interim Ombudsman Paul Najsarek.
