Local government is the solution, not the problem

PwC report makes strong case for making local government a strong sector, writes The MJ's editor, Heather Jameson.

In previous years, PwC's survey on the state of local government finance has been something of an anomaly. 

Half-way through the financial cuts, it seems local government is still the only public service so far to feel real pain – but there is no sign yet that there are any other targets in the firing line for cuts. So buckle up.
