A multi-billion pound cash pot the Treasury is trying to secure to support local growth could end up £24bn larger than originally announced, Conservative Party grandee Lord Heseltine revealed this week.

A key plank of the peer's report on economic growth No stone left unturned was the creation of a £58bn single funding pot, which the 39 Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) in England would bid on.
