HM Land Registry (HMLR) intends to transfer all local authority Local Land Charges data in England and Wales to the centralised Local Land Charges Register (LLCR) by 2025. This ambition is driven by the need to optimise the delivery of projects for local authorities (LAs), property developers, legal and professionals, to provide a faster, more cost-effective service for property buyers.
As it stands, the current LLC system – which sees LAs manage their region's data – hinders processes through factors such as replication and inconsistent sharing of best practices across different authorities. The LLCR will overcome this by acting as a centralised repository which is standardised and accessible by all stakeholders.
