Local PACs could boost oversight of devolved services, CfPS advises

The Centre for Public Scrutiny (CfPS) rcommends establising local versions of the Commons Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to boost devolution and accountability.

The Centre for Public Scrutiny (CfPS) has this week recommended emulating the influential Commons Public Accounts Committee (PAC) at local level.

A CfPS report issued on 15 April argues giving every place its own spending watchdog would boost devolution by giving Whitehall greater assurance on local spend and improve the links between Parliament and local democratic accountability.
