The UK managing director of engineering firm, Atkins, has blamed uncertainty around the localism agenda for the lack of public sector contracts.

Speaking to The MJ after the company's latest financial statement revealed a 21% drop in operating profits for its UK division over the first six months of the current financial year, David Tonkin said many councils were uncertain about whether they would still be providing key services, once the coalition government's new agenda became law.
