What London chiefs think about the Autumn Statement…

A group of London council chief executives were invited by The MJ and PwC to give their views on the last ever Autumn Statement. Michael Burton reports on their key conclusions.

Last November's Autumn Statement was historic for at least three reasons; it was the first under the new Government and the new chancellor, the first outline of economic strategy since the EU referendum and also the last Autumn Statement.

It was perhaps less momentous for local government, failing to make any announcement about the social care funding crisis although it was more expansive on funding for housing and infrastructure. Inevitably, the social care issue was one highlighted by the London chief executives.
