London Councils pushes back on call to halve number of boroughs

London Councils has hit back after the Taxpayers' Alliance campaign group called for the number of London boroughs to be halved.

London Councils has hit back after the Taxpayers' Alliance campaign group called for the number of London boroughs to be halved. 

The pressure group claimed the move to reduce the number of councils in the capital from 32 to 16 could save the taxpayer more than £1bn, with savings including £51m on senior staff remuneration and £1.1bn in salaries.
