Londoners 'hardest hit' by household benefit cap

London is likely to be hardest hit by coalition reforms to the welfare system and should be made a special case, the umbrella group representing the capital's 33 boroughs has demanded.

London Councils has reported the capital is home to 27,000 families, around half of all households affected by the £26,000 annual household benefit cap which local authorities will begin to implement nationwide from June.
