Lord Hanningfield jailed for nine months

Lord Hanningfield jailed for nine months at Maidstone Crown Court for fiddling Parliamentary expeneses.

Former Essex County Council leader Lord Hanningfield was jailed today for nine months at Maidstone Crown Court.

In May the 70-year old Conservative peer was found guilty of six counts of false accounting at Chelmsford Crown Court. Charged under his name Paul White, he was accused of falsely claiming over £14,000 in Parliamentary expenses for journeys and overnight stays in London.
