Former Sheffield City Council chief executive and head of the civil service Lord Bob Kerslake has been asked to review the role of the Treasury.

In his Labour Party conference speech yesterday, shadow chancellor John McDonnell said that he wanted to ‘stand back and review the major institutions that are charged with managing our economy to check that they are fit for purpose.'
