Levelling up secretary Michael Gove provided another masterclass in understatement during his second appearance at the UK Covid-19 Inquiry this week.

In written evidence about the relations between then prime minister Boris Johnson and former Scottish first minister Nicola Sturgeon, Gove explained the pair were ‘not soulmates'.
