Local government guru, Sir Michael Lyons has welcomed the White Paper as a ‘great opportunity' for local government.

Sir Michael said the Government had recognised the need for a radical change. ‘While this represents a great opportunity, it also requires local government to raise its game,' he said. ‘I believe that the real achievements we have seen over the last few years show local government is both ready and willing to take on, and rise to this challenge.'
