No magic, just clear leadership

There has been notable progress since Liverpool City Council entered intervention in 2021. Interim chief executive Theresa Grant, who finishes at the end of May, talks to Heather Jameson.

Liverpool's Cunard Building says everything you need to know about the city. Sitting on the banks of the Mersey, overshadowing a statue of the Beatles, it is a testament to the city's shipping heritage that has been brought back to life as the home of the City Council.

A council meeting, which took place the night before The MJ's meeting with interim chief executive Theresa Grant, has ushered in the next phase of the council's history. The next permanent chief, Cheshire West and Chester's Andrew Lewis, was appointed.
